Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is MANIKINS, which has you follow a lone prisoner who's maintaining an isolated space station.
To play MANIKINS, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
You play as a writer who's short on inspiration and decides to go into an abandoned warehouse filled with mannequins in the dead of night with nothing but a flashlight. She wanders around the warehouse pretty much just mumbling into a recorder all the potential ideas that are going through her head as she looks around at all the creepy mannequins.
However, as she wanders around, she'll quickly find that there's more going on that just a bunch of immobile mannequins. For one, her flashlight starts turning off on its own accord, and when she turns it back on, there's new text on the walls. For another, the mannequins seem to be moving aggresively at her whenever her flashlight isn't trained on them. And for a third, there seems to be far more mannequins and disembodied mannequin body parts than should be possible for a normal warehouse.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give MANIKINS a download.
